Plain-language note

This template reflects how POLARITY actually handles data today. It isn't legal advice — have a professional review it before relying on it commercially.

This policy explains what POLARITY collects, why, and the choices you have. POLARITY runs on Google Firebase (a Google Cloud service) for sign-in, database, and hosting.

1. What we collect

When you sign in and play, we store:

  • Account — your name, email address, and (from Google) profile photo — collected when you sign in with Google or Apple — plus a unique account ID. With Sign in with Apple you can hide your email; Apple then relays a private forwarding address instead.
  • Profile — the username you choose, your avatar selection, and optional region and time zone.
  • Gameplay — the games you join, your scores and participation, survey answers, and any drawing you submit in a Final round.
  • Technical — standard diagnostic data your browser and Firebase generate (approximate region, device/browser type, timestamps) to run and secure the Service.

We never ask for or store your Google password.

2. How we use it

  • To run the games — sign you in, show your username, keep score, and power leaderboards and live boards.
  • To moderate — filter offensive usernames and enforce fair play.
  • To operate, secure, and improve the Service.

We do not sell your personal information.

3. What's public

Your username, avatar, scores, leaderboard results, and any answers or drawings shown on a live board are visible to other players and spectators — that's the nature of a public game show. Your email address is never shown publicly.

4. Services we rely on

  • Google Sign-In & Sign in with Apple / Firebase Authentication — sign you in.
  • Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore, Realtime Database, Hosting) — stores your data and powers live features.
  • YouTube — when a host plays a "Daily Double" clip, it's embedded from YouTube, which may set its own cookies and collect data under Google's policies.
  • Netlify — serves the website.

Each of these processes data under its own privacy terms.

5. Cookies & local storage

We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and remember your session. Embedded YouTube clips may set additional cookies.

6. Keeping & deleting your data

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete your account any time from your profile — this removes your profile and releases your username. Some records tied to finished games (like a leaderboard result) may remain as historical entries. Backups and logs may persist for a limited period.

7. Children

POLARITY isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

8. Security

We rely on Google Firebase's infrastructure and our own server-side access rules to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe.

9. Your choices

From your profile you can change your username, edit your region and time zone, change your avatar, or delete your account entirely.

10. Changes

We may update this policy; we'll change the date above and may highlight material changes in the app.
